Nothing has the power to seduce quite like a great perfume. But how to do it right? Read on for our seven fool-proof steps.
So it’s happened, you’re in love. Unfortunately the object of your affection is not at all phased by your efforts to charm. You’ve used up all the other subtleties of your sex to try and seduce, but to no avail. However not all is lost! As Patrick Süskind wrote, "he who rules scent rules the hearts of men." The right perfume used strategically can almost guarantee seduction. Here, a guide to successful intoxication.
1. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Where you spray your perfume is just as important as what you spray. Focus on the warmest spots of your body – the wrists, the elbows, the stomach, near the heart – add a little spritz to one or two of these. Never more than this, or else you risk the chance of literally knocking out your lover.
2. WEAR HEAVIER SCENTS IN THE WINTER
Amber, musk, sandalwood, anything with spices and flowers like jasmine or tuberose, are best reserved for the colder months.
3. WATCH OUT FOR CLASHES
Keep all other scents, like shampoo and deodorant, neutral. Too many different smells ruin the effect.
4. CHANGE YOUR PERFUME EVERY FEW YEARS
Every woman needs a signature perfume, a scent that can linger on the shirts and sheets of those you get close to, something to remind them only of you. Choose your signature, then switch it every five years to keep things exciting, if just for yourself.
5. LEAVE YOUR SCENT WHEREVER YOU CAN
Now that you have a signature perfume, make sure everybody knows it. Spray it on anything and everything, from the letters you write to the gifts you give. Embrace the feline in you.
6. STAND IN THE WIND
Always make sure there is a handy little breeze to waft your intoxicating smell in the right direction. This is also great for adding a touch of drama to your hair-do.
7. WHEN IN DOUBT: WHISPER
Like you’re in a perfume ad. Quiet and mysterious is always better than loud and annoying. In the very least, your love will have to lean in closer to hear you. A whiff of your perfume will seal the deal. Fingers crossed.
