TGC's Guide To Full Moon Bathing

TGC's Guide To Full Moon Bathing

Sep 25, 2020The Goddess Collective

Full moon energy supports releasing old layers, beliefs or relationships that aren’t serving you well. If you feel called to dive deeper into self-care, you should get curious about the emotions that tend to come up around the full moon. These simple bath rituals for each zodiac sign should do the trick.

TO BEGIN: Cleanse the subtle body and space with a cleansing herb or essential oil spray. For example smudge your bathroom space with palo santo or sage. Push the smoke into every corner and make sure that your bathtub is very clean. You may need to take a little time to wipe down your tub thoroughly. Draw the bath and put in the flowers, plus a couple of drops of oil. Place stones of your choice around the edge and light some candles. Before you enter the tub, say a prayer for the water, the plants and the stones. In return ask them to support you on your journey.

Below you'll find our DIY mixtures based on each zodiac sign’s needs. Tip: Use ¼ cup of Epsom salts or Himalayan salt as base for your bathing ritual.

ARIES

Aries, as the first sign of the zodiac, you're the eldest child in this family. It makes sense, then, that Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action and, according to ancient Roman mythology, the God of War. Mars is all about energy, passion and self-starting, leaving Aries with an inherent, undeniable confidence. This is why a soothing and balancing mixture here isn't a bad idea at all.

Essential oils: 2 drops of frankincense oil, 2 drops of rosemary oil and 2 drops of marjoram oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried blossoms of your liking, weeds and juniper berries

Pimp it up: 2 tablespoons of cream soften the essential oil's sharpness and give your skin a silky touch

TAURUS

Sensual Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty. Your sign loves great food, romance and beautiful things. Venus kicks your five senses into high gear, so you are happiest when surrounded by the best of everything. A full moon bath filled with sensual ingredients suits you definitely the best.

Essential oils:  drops of ylang-ylang oil, 2 drops of rose oil and 2 drops of patchouli oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried thyme as well as lavender and dandelion blossoms, if available. If not, dried rose petals do the trick as well

Pimp it up: 2 tablespoons of whey and honey will add sweet coziness

GEMINI

Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of information and technology, and it's known as the planetary messenger. It gives Gemini a gift for day-to-day expression and communication with others. They are talented at keeping up with small talk, because Mercury makes them lively and curious. A grounding mixture will help you to feel the ground under your feet again.

Essential oils: 3 drops of basil oil, 2 drops of neroli oil and 2 drops of grapefruit oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried dill as well as rose petals and lavender buds

Pimp it up: 2 tablespoons of coconut oil will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside

CANCER

The ruling planet for Cancer is The Moon. The Moon represents the personal self, the feelings and the unconscious. The Moon also stands for security and instinctual or habitual patterns, as well as the ability to relate to others, and to be nurturing to others. The Moon rules Cancer and is exalted in Taurus. Selfcare in form of a bathing ritual will feel like a call back tom from mother moon.

Essential oils: 5 drops of lavender oil, 2 drops of chamomile oil and 2 drops of juniper oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried bay leaves, chamomile and meadow hogweed

Pimp it up: As many Cancers suffer from dry skin, 1 or 2 tablespoons aloe vera oil should feel like a moisturizing booster

LEO

The ruling planet for Leo is The Sun. The Sun represents the Self, one's way of being in the world. It can represent, on different levels, both the ego and the higher Self or soul purpose. The Sun is the most important "planet" in the chart and symbolizes one's will and sense of vitality. This is why a balancing bathing ritual mixture is the boss here.

Essential oils: 4 drops of cardamom oil, 4 drops of lemon oil and 5 drops of rosemary oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried white mandrel flowers as well as leaves and mix it with calendula petals

Pimp it up: By adding 2 tablespoons of cream every lioness or lion will soon feel like the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. Rrrroar!

VIRGO

Virgo is also ruled by Mercury. But instead of absorbing the lively and curious characteristics of this planet, Virgo is endowed with the unemotional, logical and analytical ability to break things down and put them back together in a new-and-improved way. A bathing mixture with soothing ingredients will take off the edge of being perfect all the time.

Essential oils: 5 drops of thyme oil, 2 drops of chamomile oil and 2 drops of sage oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried St. Johns worth flowers, daisies and lavender buds

Pimp it up: 1 tablespoon of honey will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside

LIBRA

The seventh sign of the zodiac, Libra is also ruled by Venus, the Planet of Beauty. The ruling planet of Libra is the same as that of the zodiac sign of Taurus. The planet is supposed to grant the finest planetary influences. People of the Libra zodiac, dominated by the ruling planet of Venus, possess a very harmonious nature and strive for happiness and companionship. Some fine traits found in such an individual are beauty, charm, love of music and cheerfulness that can also be applied to a bathing ritual.

Essential oils: 2 drops of lemon oil, 3 drops of raspberry oil and 2 drops of frankincense oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried peppermint leaves, chamomile and – if available – a few freesia petals

Pimp it up: 2 tablespoon of whey benefit to a skin prone to sensitivities

SCORPIO

The ruling planets for Scorpio are Mars and Pluto. Pluto rules Scorpio, and is exalted in Leo. Pluto is related to will, and intense passion, and has a reputation for ruthlessness. As god of the underworld Pluto brings the deepest compulsions into the light. Why don't you try a bathing ritual mixture that heats things up between you and your lover?

Essential oils: 2 drops of jasmine oil, 2 drops of patchouli oil and 8 drops of sandalwood oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried raspberry leaves, pennyroyal mint as well as peony leaves

Pimp it up: 1 tablespoon of honey adds even more sweetness to your bathing ritual

SAGITTARIUS

Sagittarius, which is ruled by Jupiter, is one of the planet's home signs, making it an extra-comfy placement that only amplifies all of Jupiter's gifts and energies. Let the Jupiter in Sagittarius party begin! Jupiter is the planet of good vibes, good luck, and big opportunities. Celebration in a bath is therefore your birth right so to speak.

Essential oils: 2 drops of geranium oil, 1 drop of rosemary oil and 1 drop of bergamot oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried peppermint leaves as well as dandelion buds and crocus blossoms

Pimp it up: 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil will work like a smooth operator

CAPRICORN

Saturn rules Capricorn, and Capricorns love rules. Saturn represents responsibility, hard work and determination. Some call it the taskmaster of the planets, keeping everyone in check and ensuring direct routes to the finish line. Saturn also has a lot to do with learning lessons and understanding limitations. Capricorns can be very self-critical — you’re hard on yourself when things don’t go according to plan and you always try to learn from your mistakes so they don’t happen again. Loosening up a little is your call and these bathing ritual mixtures can help you with that.

Essential oils: 2 drops of eucalyptus oil, 2 drops of ginger oil and 1 drop of patchouli oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried thyme leaves, chamomile and violets

Pimp it up: 1 tablespoon honey added to this mixture will help you letting go of any toxins or negativity

AQUARIUS

Aquarius is ruled by Saturn and Uranus and their natures express diametrically opposite worldviews. Saturn is the planet of orthodoxy and tradition. He’s cold, selfish, conservative and fearful of change. Uranus is the planet of ultra-progressive thinking. He’s original, inventive and an advocate of change and reform. This is why, Aquarius is a human rights advocate. He demands freedom, liberty and equality for all humanity. For him civilized society is defined by evidence-based facts, science, equal opportunity, democracy, democratic rights, human rights, gender equality, fairness, intellect, knowledge and religious facts. A relaxing bathing ritual mixture is here definitely needed.

Essential oils: 5 drops of neroli oil should do the trick

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried hop garlands as well as valerian and chamomile flowers

Pimp it up: 2 tablespoons honey and almond milk will feel like a motherly embrace

PISCES

Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of dreams, fantasy, creativity, psychic receptivity, illusion and — of course — confusion. Pisces are seen as sensitive, but that doesn't always mean they're emotional. They are able to pick up on what isn't being said (through body language and energy) before they pay attention to what is actually being saidNaturally, this can cause them a lot of confusion, and they often have a faraway look in their eyes, like they're lost in the woods but don't really care. Grounding is very important here, right?

Essential oils: 2 drops of jasmine oil, 2 drops of guac wood oil and 1 drop of thyme oil

Herbs & dried flowers: Use a handful of dried basil and nettle leaves

Pimp it up: 1 tablespoon of coconut oil will transport you to a faraway island

TO END: When you’re done with the bath, thank your aids - physical, elemental, and spiritual. It's a good night for a full moon dance. Pick a few songs that bring you joy. Offer movement as a gift of pleasure to your body.

And here's what we're currently listening to whilst reminescening and practicing the art of letting go under the power of a full moon in our bath tub:
